The Anderson Motorcars – The Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Tucked away in the lower level of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts,  resides many of the cars owned by the Andersons. Per the museum, the Larz and Isabel Anderson started collecting cars in 1899 with the purchase of a 1899 Winton Runabout, and added to their stable of “horseless carriages” over many years. All of the cars in this collection are in their original condition – nothing has been restored. It’s an eclectic grouping – several Packards, a couple Wintons, a Lincoln, a Fiat and even an Electromobile. The Andersons even gave each one a nickname and a motto (which makes me feel better about naming each of my cars!) What’s more amazing is the condition of these antique vehicles – considering that several are over 100 years old, they are still in fairly good condition. It’s a fascinating collection, and well worth the visit.
